While you're contemplating brooches, Google "madeleine brooch amanda" to see an interview featuring Amanda Miller and a foremost collector who practices brooch diplomacy. It makes me a bit curious about their role in history.

Okay, so I kind of missed the accessorize gene. It skips a generation, or I missed a women's informational meeting, something like that. However, my mom kind of rocks at this, and lately she has been sending me accessories from jewelry television. I know it sounds hokey, but her addiction to jtv has been a boon for me. I now look like a real live adult at my job. If I were brooch shopping, it's where I would go. However, I am not actually allowed to buy jewelry for myself, but I am allowed to use the pieces when they are given to me.

Good story! It brought to mind the line from Paul Simon..."Preserve your memories...they're all that's left you" (from Bookends)

After discovering you on CNN a while back (in the age of your David Gergen infatuation), I began checking your Notblog periodically and read several pieces from your Archives. Among the ones I particularly liked...."same level of sadness" and "You Don't Bring Me Flowers Anymore". Here's a visual "floralance" in appreciation: www.phals.net

Thanks for sharing your stories (and the links to songs and videos). I am hopeful that we will be reading more...

I'd like even more breakup songs. I'm finding them extremely helpful in a really masochistic kind of way. I'd really appreciate any futher suggestions. I'm going through a bad, bad breakup, with the ex, who is posting his every move (including sexual, classy huh?) with the new goth girlfriend on facebook. Your other suggestions were fantastic. I love Fiona. By the way, I was there at Central Park when you performed your monologue about your breakup. I still remember it, it was fantastic and truly inspiring. By the way, have you been in touch with your ex since?
